Why a blog?

That is a very good question. There is so many answers to this question, and I decided to get this blog going, this would be my first post. A rabble on why make a blog.

I have so many random thoughts and opinions about so many topics, especially in Health and Fitness and of course all the diets and lifestyles that comes with that. There are so many!! Even as a fitness professional you can get confused some days about what and who to believe in. New research, old research and especially research sponsored by the people who wants to look good in the research done (read; a glass of red wine a day is good for you – who do you think paid for this outcome? Could it be the wine producers themselves?).

I am a Personal Trainer by trade, am very interested in nutrition and passionate about food. In the end of the day, we spend a lot of our time every day eating. Some people swear to eating every three hours and even get up at night to eat to avoid losing muscle. Others choose to have fasting periods throughout the day, say 18 hours without food, and then feast for 6 hours. Then there’s the mindless “I’ll eat when I’m hungry” attitude or the “I’ve already eaten my 1200 kcal today, so even if I’m starving I will not eat”. Love Thy Food

Diets. Don’t get me started on diets. The African Mango Diet, Lemon Detox Diet, The Four Hour Diet, The Atkins Diet, The Soup Diet, The Dukan Diet, The Chocolate Diet (Really?!) and the list goes on and on. One thing that is generally true about all diets are; If they sound to good to be true, they probably are. Anyone who promises you to lose 10 pounds in a week and keep it off for life, is lying to you. Suck it up! What are you going to do the week after you finish the miracle cure? Go straight back to what you did before the diet and PUT IT ALL BACK ON again (plus more, most likely). Diet Cycle

Unfortunately there is no quick and easy way to fat loss (mark my words, fat loss, not weight loss – weight loss is easy. If I don’t drink water for a whole day but do a lot of cardio or simply sit in a sauna for hours – I can easily lose 3-4 kilos – but not of fat – of water)! Well there is one easy way I guess, go under the knife and get some liposuction! Good luck with that, I’m sure it’s a lot of fun.

Now I am just rabbling along. What I really meant to say was; why a blog? Because it is a great way of getting my opinion across. Of sharing great recipes and other health tips. Of getting to know more people who share my opinions or simply wants to convince me otherwise.  And along the way, I hope I can make you laugh – or at least smile and possible inspire you to do something for your own health today. Every little bit counts.

All Diets Will Die One DayLook forward to get to know you better.

I read your whole blog, fun, sometimes funny, fit foodie and traveler and all. Good stuff. Do you want me to go back and click ‘like’ on each post individually?

My something today was walking around the town square with my dog. Sometimes I take my easel and paint something.

    Don’t steal my bike.

    • LOL – I promise, I won’t steal your bike if you follow me 😉

Thank you, I appreciate it – what was your favourite post so far? If you feel like liking them all, feel free, no pressure 😉

I liked your newest one, It’s Not that Hard, since I am always staring my excuses down to keep moving forward. I also liked the Something Every Day references. Something, anything. Good advice. 🙂

Hey Åshild. I just stumbled upon your blog doing some research about how to blog. Love how you organize your materials, and really like the focus on health. I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while now, but Im kinda scared of putting my opnions out there for judgment, What would you say to a potential-blogger with some self doubts? And how did you decide to start your blog?

    • I would say “just do it”. Unless you are going to claim you know the truth and the only truth, it’s only your opinions. We all have one, so if someone disagrees, that is just going to be normal. I decided to blog because I am very opinionated, passionate and love writing and taking pictures. I figured a blog was a perfect way of expressing myself. Unfortunately I haven’t been prioritising it much lately as I have been swamped with work. Hopefully will be able to pick it up again soon. Good luck!
