I wrote the post last night about goal setting, because there is so many Gonnas out there. And I am sick of listening to them. They’re gonna do this and they’re gonna do that. But they actually never do it. They’re all talk and no action. I’ll just say as Nike says; Just Do It! If you never try, you don’t know how you’ll go. You already have a no, all you can gain is a yes. Get out there and do what you’ve always wanted to do. It’s not that hard!
Believe me, I have heard any excuse in the book. And that’s what they are; excuses. You are only fooling yourself when you make up excuses for not doing things, such as looking after your health or changing your job (that you hate). The two most common excuses I hear is; ‘It’s too hard’ and ‘I haven’ got time’. Let me tell you something, I don’t have time either. I make time. I make time for the things that matter to me and the things I want to do. If you haven’t got time to look after your health, what have you got time for? If you don’t have your health, you have nothing. Your time will be a lot more enjoyable if you are fit, strong and healthy. You will get more done, because you’ve got the energy and stamina.
Sometimes you need to put yourself first, because if you don’t, no one else will either.
It’s too hard you say. And stick to doing what you have always done. It might be getting off your butt and getting in shape so you can do that trip to Machu Picchu you have always dreamt of. But you are just to overweight and unfit to ever be able to make it. But it’s too hard to change. It’s too hard to eat healthy. It’s too hard to start exercising. It’s just too hard, ok?! You’re just fooling yourself. If you keep telling yourself that, you will never change and you will never get to Machu Picchu. Tell yourself you can do it and get started. Take it one step at a time, surely that can’t be too hard for you?
It’s too hard is the adult version of ‘The dog ate my homework’.
Everything is hard until you know it. English is my second language, it was hard before I knew it – but never too hard not to be bothered learning it. I am sure it would be more painful living in a foreign country with a language I don’t understand, rather than sitting through the pain of learning English! Equally it was hard to start running; until I learnt how to enjoy it. But it was never too hard to not give it a go.
It’s not too hard! You’re the only one who believe that lie. Start today (it is Monday after all, and millions of others are starting today) and tell yourself it’s not to hard. Tell yourself you can do it! Whatever it is you have been putting off doing for too long – Just Do It (Nike did not pay me to say this – I am saying it voluntarily)!
Happy Monday 🙂
