Did You Stop To Smell The Roses Today?

I did, for the third time in my life (one for every decade, hah) I had a facial. I consider that stopping to smell the roses. I was given a voucher a few months ago and finally remembered to book it in this afternoon. Can’t complain when you get to sit half an hour in a steam room and get a 45min facial treatment for $0. The few times I have been, they always get shocked when I tell them how I look after my skin; I wash it with luke warm water, twice a day. Just water. And when I remember, I moisturise. That’s it. And I get compliments for my skin weekly. I guess it must be what I eat, rather than what I put on top of my skin.

Not bad for someone who doesn't look after their skin right?

We are what we eat, remember, so if I drink lots of water, eat lots of vegetables and fats.  Not so much sugar, wheat, dairy and other things I have talked about earlier. I don’t really stay out of the sun, but when I am on the beach for tanning purposes, I put a hat and sunnies on. And my skin is clear, tight and glowing (this is what people tell me, anyways) all the time. Ok, it could be my clean diet or it could be my genes. Or it could be that I don’t put a lot of stuff on it. I don’t wear make up every day, I don’t use a lot of creams, lotions, cleansers, tonics etc. I am just way to lazy for that stuff. Or, maybe lazy is not the word, I just prefer to spend my time on other things. Such as sleeping a little longer in the mornings (sleep is important remember!) or spending a little more time in front of the computer (I have heard that is as bad as the sun, and that I need to use a computer screen, as opposed to a sun screen). Oh well, what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger, right?

What I meant to say was, I did stop to smell the roses. I really enjoyed just lying there having someone massaging my head and rubbing my face with this and that (don’t ask, I wouldn’t have a clue what she put on) and just let my thoughts wander. No stress, just pure relaxation. So, if you have some time this weekend, take some time to just look after yourself. Could be anything from a facial or massage, to going out with the girls to see a show. Just do something non stressful, for yourself. Just yourself, no one else. It feels good sometimes.

You can stop and smell the tulips too, but I think roses smell better...

Before I forget, what did you do for your Something Every Day today? I went for a walk this morning in the beautiful sun. Tomorrow I got Yoga on the menu. I am considering doing a yoga challenge starting tomorrow. I love challenges, it keeps me interested, excited and focused about what I am doing. I did a 30 day Bikram Yoga challenge a few years ago and I felt amazing afterwards. This one is a 21 day challenge with any yoga you  like. It is 21 days, because it takes about 21 days to create a new habit. When you start exercising, don’t do the latest craze or start running if neither of these look interesting to you. For you to be able to stick to it, it needs to be something you enjoy doing, something fun. That’s why I mix it up and I never get bored.

Have a great night – be good to yourself, it will only benefit you in the long run 🙂

Thanks for sharing! I am fairly similar to you- I don’t use much make-up or use alot of creams/lotions. Partly it maybe because i am allergic or sensitive to many cosmetics. Mostly though, I am very lazy when it comes to having a beauty regime! I have only had a facial once in my life- reading about yours has inspired me to ‘spoil’ myself and do something different. I may surprise myself and book one for next week!!! yayyyy!!!! 😉 Enjoy the weekend happy blogger!

  3. I’ve been meaning to give myself an at home facial made of honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
