Who listens to music when running? I do, especially if I am running intervals I need some music to pump me up and keep me going. I tend to keep my old classics for ages, the new ones doesn’t always stick with me. I wrote down a few of my current favorites, if you need a little inspiration. Now get off your butt and move!
No one can blame for having a very narrow taste in music at least. If it makes me smile and makes me move, then it works. Don’t you just love listening to music when cleaning the house or doing other boring chores and just dance through it (or doesn’t everyone do that??)? I am currently dancing from the hips up (doing my famous shoulder dance) as I am typing to “Can You Feel It” by The Jacksons. Can’t not be happy.
Have you been active today? Remember that the weekend is no excuse to just sit on your ass all day doing nothing. It should really just be a great opportunity to do a little extra, now that you’ve got a little more time on your hands. Organise an active catch up with friends, go for a walk, play tennis, go hiking or try something new. When was the last time you tried something you’ve never done before? Rock Climbing? Sea Kayak? Doing things that scare you (a little bit, you don’t have to jump in a parachute or go ski jumping every day) will only help you grow and develop as a person. Just be active. Move more, eat better! You’ll get more energy and feel better. It’s a win~win!
If you get into the habit of doing Something Every Day, it will add up to a massive amount of exercise in a year. And you will be very proud of yourself. But hey, don’t confuse this with ‘doing at least an hour every day if not it’s not even worth it’ or ‘if you can’t run you’re not exercising’, it’s meant to be Something. It can be a little thing or a big thing, a walk or a run, a cycle or a spin class, 20 push-ups in an ad break or 20 squats while cooking dinner. It all counts! Because Something is so much better than nothing! Imagine if you do alternating lunges every time you brush your teeth. That can add up to 4 minutes a day (because no one brushes their teeth 3 minutes every time they brush and let’s say mooooost people brush twice a day), 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year; 1,456 minutes a year of lunging. That over 24 hours of lunging. Imagine how much stronger your legs and glutes will be (I just gave myself a pad on the back for having such a great idea)!
Anyways, get off your ass and move! It’s not that hard and YES you have time! 🙂
