I landed back in Melbourne yesterday after an amazing 8 week holiday with my better half and I just can’t understand how 8 weeks can fly so fast?! I guess whoever invented the saying “Time flies when you’re having fun” was absolutely right. Because I have had so much fun, seen so many beautiful things and met and caught up with so many beautiful people. I can’t help but thinking how lucky I am to have so many friends and family (and a lot of new family) spread out over the world.
So many have told us how lucky we are to be able to do this trip, but I am pretty sure that doesn’t come down to luck. I think that comes down to making a decision and sticking to it. If you want something enough, so will get it. Somethings are easier to get than other things, but in the end of the day all you need to do is setting yourself a goal and sticking to it. I’ve been writing a little before about goal setting, but I think this post is the easiest place to start, all about how to set SMART goals. If you want something, you are the only person who can make sure you get it. So get to work!
This applies everywhere in life, of course. You want that dream body? Work for it, but first of all you need to decide what the dream body is, when you want it, how you are going to do it and so on. Dream holiday? Same thing. Dream job? Work for it. No one else is going to give you all your dreams on a silver platter if you just sit on your couch and wait for it to happen (unless of course you made sure you played the winning numbers in the lottery before you sat down on that couch). And do you know what the most important thing is, no matter what your goal is (as long as you know what the goal is of course)? Your mind! All the things you tell yourself everyday. All those little thoughts you might thing are innocent and won’t matter as long as you do the right things. Believe me, the conversations you have with yourself every day are the most important conversations yo have. Read about the power of your mind here. If you tell yourself that you can or you can’t, you are probably right!
So, I know it’s Tuesday today and that most people who ‘started on Monday’ have already failed in changing their entire life all in one go! That doesn’t mean you should wait until Monday before you try again. Today is a great day, but hey, let’s do one thing at a time. I have been drinking faaaaar to much coffee the last 8 weeks, so today Tuesday, I am sitting here with a green tea, when I would normally have a Short Black or a Piccolo Latte. And I am planning on doing that every day this week (and next week and the week after), until the habit of always ordering a coffee, even when I don’t really feel like one is gone. That doesn’t mean I won’t have coffee at all, just means I will have a lot less and will break a habit I don’t really need.
In fact, I know that I will have a coffee this morning, because I have been invited to a girlfriend’s house for a workout and a latte! Workout comes first, then a much needed catch up and latte comes second! I did say back to reality, right? I can’t wait to get back into a routine with training again, knowing that I have the option to go to the gym, when I want, not just when it happens to be a gym around! My Daily Somethings will definitely become a little more challenging and varied compared to when travelling! Bring it on!
So much to do this week, getting back into the swing of things, definitely need to write a few lists and set some more goals for the week, to ensure I get somewhere! What’s on your list of things that needs to be done?? If you don’t feel like sharing, at least make sure you have one for yourself!
See you later today, or actually you will see more of Madrid later today 🙂
